What is Audiobus? — Audiobus isan award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you useyour other music apps together. Chain effects on your favouritesynth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app likeGarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface outputfor each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive asynth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDIkeyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Unfortunately the Zoom H4n is not recognized when I try to use it as an audio input device for Garageband for Ipad. I do have MultiTrack on my Ipad and the H4n works quite well as an input device for it without problem, so I know it is an issue with Garageband as opposed to a problem with the Ipad and OS. Here's how Berklee College of Music professor Andrea Pejrolo turned his iPad into a portable, professional recording studio. Make your iPad into a professional recording studio. Today's Best. The H4n Pro can capture audio in both MP3 and WAV file formats. WAV files recorded with the H4n Pro comply with BWF (Broadcast Wave Format) and include marks and creation dates. It allows for easy syncing and file organization for both musicians and filmmakers.

Aug 28, 2014 The Zoom iQ6 iOS Microphone for Lightning-equipped iOS devices. H4n Sound Quality for iPhone + iPad. By jaime traba. Additionally, the iQ6 will work with Apple’s Voice Memo app and GarageBand, as well as most apps that can accept audio in from a microphone. Zoom even includes a removable spacer that lets you connect the mic to your.
Hello. I have a Zoom H2N microphone that I would like to use with my iPad 2, but it seems a bit complicated? If I just plug the H2N into the camera connection kit, the iPad tells me that the H2N uses too much power. I have tried using a powered USB-hub and that worked but I feel like it's kind of annoying to have to use a powered hub when I think it should be possible to make it portable, for example, if I want to sit in my garden, I can't really give the USB-hub power and therefore not be able to use the H2N. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions? Is it even possible to use the H2N with the iPad 2 without having to use a powered USB-hub? Thanks!

- Try it with unpowered small hub
It did work with new mpk mini and ipad, really, not powered hub and it works - Nope, it still doesn't seem to work, just gives me the 'too much power'-message.
- edited September 2014I have this same problem connecting my Novation XioSynth to my iPad Air. The 'too much power' message on the iPad is a pain in the neck. I really wish there was a jailbreak to overcome this. Apple charge a lot for iDevices yet they still cripple them.

Why so quick to blame Apple on this? It's not like this is an unreasonable limitation. As far as the mic goes, I've been eyeing one of those Rode iXY's lately. They look awesome.
- I have connected my xio synth running on batteries and it has worked without a hub. As an aside, the xio is a very underrated piece of gear, it's too bad they stopped making it.
- Check out this setup which uses a small external battery and a USB Y splitter:With this setup I can run a Scarlett 2i4 with phantom power to a condenser mic, so it should definitely be able to power your Zoom USB mic.

Good to know you got the XioSynth working with iPad using the batteries. I think I'll try that with my XioSynth.
- I was just thinking yesterday that something like midi editor pro (or whatever that's called) may be useful to make a Xio editor. Someone made one for windows but I'd love to avoid using windows if at all possible. I need to get the patch manager back on my Mac though as my presets have become a little messy. I use my Xio on every gig though, it covers a lot of ground.
- edited September 2014Because the H2N can be operated with batteries, the requirement to use an powered usb hub is really annoying. I see no technical reason for this. If I had known this before purchasing the H2N ...
- Instead of starting a new thread I thought I first bump an olderI am thinking about getting a Zoom H5 or H6 to record jams, tracks and fields. My question is regarding the iOS workflow... Is anyone using one of the Zoom recorders and can tell me how easy it is to get the recorded file from the Zoom into the iOS ecosystem (e.g. iPhone, iPad)?
(My idea right now, is using my old trusty mac and put it via Wifi into Audioshare. But this includes the Mac still everytime)Thanks for your insights. - When using a Zoom 'Handyrecorder' as an audiointerface for your iPad/iPhone, you don't have access to the filesystem on the Zoom memorycard. So you always need a pc/mac to transfer files (via usb) to harddisk and then transfer (f.e. via Dropbox) them to the iPad/iPhone.

Fingers crossed for iOS 13 maybe.... - @Misirlou said:
Nope, it still doesn't seem to work, just gives me the 'too much power'-message.It depends on the hub. I tried 3 or 4 hubs before finding a Belkin that worked with the Zoom powered or unpowered. Be forewarned, the Zoom's batteries run down pretty fast. - @Misirlou said:

Thanks! It's probably much easier to get a cheap Tascam stereo microphone with 30pin connector (iM2, iM2W) and attach it directly to the iPad2. - @Misirlou - I have an H2 (non-N) with iPad 2018 and I have the same issue until I connect the H2 to its AC adapter (I don't know if the H2N also came with that). It's a bit of a faff but it works. What my real issue is... when streaming audio into AUM from the Zoom, no extra fx or anything, the sound drops periodically. I've tried various buffer sizes and it's the same issue. Do you or anyone else encounter that problem?
- Bumping this thread again... iOS 13 changed it all. Now we are even one step closer to a convenient mobile workflow in regard of these recorder for our music, samples, fieldrecordings etc. What would you recommend though?
Zoom H4n Pro, H5, H6 or tascam devices? Price should not break 300€ - thanks for your insights!
