Legends Of Aria Mac Os 2017
- @kiiz [email protected]
I for one can't wait to see everything come together and those that are constantly complaining go elsewhere. - - The master plan has not been changed. That's good.
- The situation for the community servers is brutal, indeed.
- We all need much more patience than we ever anticipated.
- From great success to failure and everything between - everything is possible.
- Getting back the old Mojo is necessary and possible. CS do something!
- None of us are prophets.

I've only seen one..r and those that are constantly complaining go elsewhere.- edited April 2018My goodness, Havoking. Made a lot of stew with one oyster, did you?
I'd have gone with a slightly more profane analogy, but that one will do.- The master plan has not been changed. That's good.

It's also more of an archimedes screw than a circle, although it certainly feels very round.
I am working on the mojo. The silent times are over. - @Sacha I've seen more than one regarding past forum posts and discord chatter and it is the same folks. This quote sums it up:[Edited by moderator: If you're going, go, if you're staying, stay, but saying you're leaving and then staying is boring. -- SMW]
- Can I get a refund for two of my three accounts?
hmm, I doubt it, mainly because pledging is not buying. Anyway, only valid answer would be from CS.Wait, what?! I can ask for a refund and possibly get it just by emailing?
Let's try to concentrate in more productive threads.- edited April 2018[Edited by moderator. You can be angry, but you don't get to make threats. We can discuss if and when you return to the forum after you've taken a day to reflect, and then had a private conversation with me. -SMW]
- Okay, notes about refunds:
Automatic refunds, where we click a button and poof you have money, we're limited by Paypal. They can only let us pay you back that way if you ask within 180 days.
That's not to say we won't or would never, just that it's complicated. We don't have a billing department, because we don't yet have a CS department. The billing department is Derek when he's not putting out fires.
I can't actually quote you policies because we are setting them.
(Please note, I got righteously smacked for not realizing some of you are not talking about PURCHASES - which we stand by in terms of refunds - but actually talking about PLEDGES, which are a different kettle of eels, see below. I apologize for not realizing that. I am completely to blame for that.)
That still doesn't mean no, before anyone freaks out. But there are some questions, now, and I welcome feedback and suggestions and philosophy:
- Some services look at the number of hours you've played before deciding on a refund. If you played a hundred hours, you can't exactly claim that you didn't like it. You can't return a dress you wore clubbing all night. At what point is a refund request still reasonable?
- Where's the line between feeling misled and just not liking a development choice?
- A pledge isn't a purchase. There's a reason Kickstarter itself never does refunds.
- Speaking of Kickstarter, if you pledge a hundred dollars, we don't get a hundred dollars. What would refunds look like?
- We are taking far longer than we had hoped to get this thing shipped, but it is not vaporware, there is a product, it is still in production, and we are still committed to the player servers. (There's going to be a talk between me and our admins within a couple weeks of PAX ending, when I can properly focus on the conversation and be fully informed as to the issues.) Pledges are for the game's development, and we are not through developing. The starting point for this conversation is Kickstarter's own guidelines, under section 4: https://www.kickstarter.com/section4?ref=faq-basics_creatoroblig With that as the starting point, what is the best move here?
Have I missed anything? What would you do, if you were running a game company? - I will meet you in the middle. Take two of my three accounts back and give me a single Lord account.
- That's some drama going on here. Why doesn't everyone just take a chill pill and wait? I don't think pestering the devs while they're working on the code is going to help. Just leave them alone for a while.
- I always start my day with a Special K, for breakfast. From a business perspective, I don't think CS should give refunds, or even entertain the suggestion. Maybe offer a refund option 3-5 days after purchase, but that should be after the game is released, and not for early pledges.
We all know what we signed up for, things don't always work out the way you want, and CS are not really bound to meet any of our expectations, which as a community will be wide, varied and often conflicting. And they can't run a stable business offering refunds whenever someone is unhappy later down the line, it makes no sense.
Hell, I'm still saltier than a seaman's special sock after some experiences here.. but it's also been a fascinating and engaging journey on many levels, and in perspective, I can see I've easily gotten my money's worth in gameplay and memorable entertaining drama, several times over.
I'm sure most of you guys asking for refunds, have spent more than your pledge amount on less entertaining nights out, that you've long since forgotten about. Was the entire experience with Shards/LOA less memorable? - I'm with Dominus.
When I pledged I gave some money to support people developing a game, and that's what they've been doing.
I feel I can only demand what the pledge level promised (key, map cloth, etc).
I pledged because I had faith in a project. If I don't like the final product it's a risk I took at that moment.
So, to answer Sanya, I would not refund pledges, unless I was unable to eventually give the promised stuff (game key, map, design a house, party with devs, etc). - edited April 2018I just didn't like them changing Champion items to Savage items.
That has grated me somewhat, I haven't asked for a refund - and it would be a partial refund if I did ask for one, and I' m still waiting on what is going to happen with that in regards to my Reddit post.

Somebody kindly pointed me to the following discussion on here..
https://www.legendsofaria.com/forums/discussion/comment/28428/
It feels dirty to ask for a refund, because my best friend / IRL neighbour is a game developer and he tells me all the horrible stories about people doing unfair charge backs which ultimately costs the company money.
I would really like what I paid for, in terms of founders items - or I would like that small portion of money back instead. With that money, I can then decide if I want to upgrade later on once the items are either changed back, or kept the same.
I will not be doing a charge back however, and I feel it is highly unfair to even think about doing it unless somebody has stolen your bank cards. - edited April 2018
I would politely decline to offer refunds on the simple premise that if an individual pledges money, an individual assumes the risk of doing so at that time.Okay, notes about refunds:
Have I missed anything? What would you do, if you were running a game company?
There is obvious effort going into the game's development. It has obvious strengths and obvious weaknesses (in beta, surprise!). It's not vaporware. I'm saying this as a C# and iOS/Mac OS engineer. This is what game development looks like on the small scale. It's exactly what we pledged towards. - I guess that some people don't know what crowdfunding is.
To pledge money and then demanding it back because you're in a fit is just wrong.
Crowdfunding is about the product, not about reinforcement. - edited April 2018So about my Lord request? You aren't losing anything by doing it. I'm not asking for a refund. If I would have known that there would be an additional round of monetization I likely wouldn't have bought three accounts at the pre alpha stage.
The amount you got from me would far exceed a single Lord account pricetag.
I'd probably email themSo about my Lord request? You aren't losing anything by doing it. I'm not asking for a refund. If I would have known that there would be an additional round of monetization I likely wouldn't have bought three accounts at the pre alpha stage.
Crossover 15 for mac or linux. The amount you got from me would far exceed a single Lord account pricetag.- Yes, @Sigmund Ringeck email - you're what they call an edge case, someone for whom no policy could possibly account for, but we aim to make people happy if we can.
Just don't expect fast responses for as much as two weeks, because literally everyone that could possibly do anything useful is up to their ass in alligators. - edited April 2018Sorry for bringing it to the forums, but you generally have to kick up a fuss in order to get results. An email has been sent and I realize that with PAX going on, there won't be much time.
That said, you have to realize that, as pledges who feel we are not getting the product that we were pitched years ago are going to voice our displeasure. Especially those who have been here for years, donated substantial sums and did not expect the lack of progress on player server tools or the complete design change from Shards to LoA.
I'm also not thrilled that you're multi-dipping on all of your pledges with the beta packs either. For a company that uses the 'we're just little guys' reasoning a lot, you sure were quick to milk us like the other big guys do.
I respect the fact that you cannot give pledges refunds, but you have to respect that I'm going to spread the word before others spend their money. - Um,
You gave your money away when you pledged to this game, and thus far this game hasn't broken anything that would even remotely think that you even deserve a refund.
As for the future, why even bother, once the game goes to steam they have to play by steams rules when it comes to refunds anyway.
But seriously, buying into a game like 6 months ago or longer and then coming around asking for a refund is pretty bad form lol. - edited April 2018I wanted to leave my opinion before I leave Legends of Aria. (I've submitted a request for a refund but I'm leaving if I get it or not)
The amount of information we've actually been given throughout the development of Shards Online and now Legends of Aria is laughable at most. It almost seems like there isn't a clear vision of what the development team actually wants it to be.
Obviously I understand that Citadel is considerably smaller, but how much work is it to create devblog a few times a week to keep everyone updated? Look at the timeframe between updates on the Citadel forum (Excluding the update to the update to the update to the update)
Ciadel's management of this community honestly seems messy and lazy. I very much regret my backing for this game. - 'but how much work is it to create devblog a few times a week to keep everyone updated?'
Rather more than you realize, I fear. Unless you're talking about one or two sentences, which I doubt.
At any rate, I've been hired to do the communicating, so the guys can continue to focus on making the game. We're at PAX right now, and won't be back at the office until Tuesday.
With a bug list as long as my arm, too, but nothing beats actually seeing new people play the game to find the sticky bits. - edited April 2018This is sad to see. Any excuse these days to feel empowered and kick up a fuss, people will do it. If you want a refund, then why are you posting here? Seriously, what development team would refund people through a forum? I can't believe what I'm reading.
You guys complain about communication, yet I've been involved in so many communities and I see nothing here that worries me. Most recently, a game named Paragon, from a AAA studio, Epic Games, had some of the worst communication I've seen and the game eventually closed with hundreds of false promises and outright lies. Citadel Studios, which in comparison, probably has a dev team with a budget 1/1000th the size of EPIC games, and yet I've seen Sanya post more times in a few weeks than I ever saw from some of these 'huge' companies. CS were clearly aware they needed to improve communication and they have.
Right, you're angry, you didn't get what you want. Why not PM Sanya or email CS? I don't get what you expect from kicking up a fuss here. These guys are at the final hurdle before they release this game, they need their community more than ever. Show them some support.

Squeaky wheels do often get the grease, but they also annoy the hell out of some of the other mice in the meantime.- That's like me asking for a refund cause someone glitched in my house and stole what I had in my crates lol.. Now I use chests :P but I've already been responded to like 3 times.. This team is badass/helpful more-so than other companies. Try Daybreak LOL

I'm fairly new to the community, but these past few weeks mostly seem to be people getting upset at the lack of communication, making their ire known.. Getting a response (Sanya!) and then leaving before Sanya gets to really do anything with the community. :c
Keep up the great work, CS! You're hiring the people you need to do the jobs you need done! c:
